________________________________ | | | HTMLessİ for DOS (Version 1.2) | |________________________________| The fastest HTML to TEXT Converter on the web is now even more versatile. HTMLess takes a standard HTML file as input and returns two ASCII text files: 1) The formatted text from the HTML file (formatted based on the HTML tags.) 2) A file containing the HTML tags. HTMLess: 1) Makes it easy to spell check an HTML document without the spell-checker stopping at every tag. 2) Allows for easy reading of HTML files without starting a Web browser. 3) Formats the textfile in a way similar in appearance to how the HTML file would appear when viewed with a browser. 4) Allows for basic debugging of HTML source by showing all tags in a semi-structured order--you can find missing tags quickly. 5) Gives you flexibility you need to incorporate the program into your own batch files or applications. INSTALLATION: -- Htmless.exe needs no additional dll's or driver files. -- Simply install the executable to the directory of your choice (i.e. C:\Htmless\htmless.exe). -- In order to use the program from any directory, add the HTMLess directory to the path statement in your autoexec.bat file. PLEASE NOTE: The DOS version of this program only recognizes 8.3 filenames. If you are having trouble getting HTMLess to open an HTML file, check to see if the file has a valid DOS filename. WHAT'S NEW Version 1.2: -- Due to popular demand, HTMLess now accepts command line arguments. -- The program accepts three arguments, the last two of which are optional: 1) the filname and/or path of the *.htm or *.html file to be converted 2) the filename and/or path of the output textfile (if no arguement is provided, the default is htmlfilename.txt) 3) the filename and/or path of the output tagfile (if no arguement is provided, default is htmlfilename.tag) -- Usage: htmless filename.htm [output_texfilename] [output_tagfilename] OTHER STUFF This program is freeware. However, if you would like to send me $7.00 for my troubles, I can't stop you. :) As an incentive, send me $7 and I'll put you on my mailing list for future releases (they're free). Steve Orth P.O.
