Installation Guide for Windows 95
Downloading UNIBASE Install Disks
In this step, you will download two self-extracting archives which will need to be written to floppy disk. In order to accomplish this task, you will need to have a temporary directory in which to save the downloaded files. The directory you use is not important, however it is important that you remember where you have saved them. For purposes of this explanation, we will use C:\TEMP as the temporary directory.
- Download Disk 1 to the directory C:\TEMP\UNIB95A.EXE
- Download Disk 2 to the direcotry C:\TEMP\UNIB95B.EXE
- You will also want a copy of the 32 bit version of Netscape or MIExplorer. You can take it now, or return to get later. They are both large files and will take a while to download to your computer.
- Exit to a dos prompt and follow these simple steps to put the software on disks 1 and 2.
- at the C:\windows prompt, enter cd \temp
Check to make certain the files are there by entering Dir
- Insert a blank formatted disk in your A: drive.
- Change to the A: dirve by entering A:
- at the A:\ prompt enter C:UNIB95A to unpack the first disk onto your A: disk.
Insert second disk.
at the A:\ prompt enter C:UNIB95B to unpack the second disk onto your A: disk.
You should now have a working copy of DISK1 and DISK2 that you will need in the following steps. Click your BACK button to return to the previous level, and procede to the next step.
